FeatherAdvanced Preparation Program (APP)

The Advanced Preparation Program is a summer scholarship-supported program open to incoming first-year students who are admitted to St. Cloud State University. Students receive an in-depth academic assessment, take college classes and participate in activities that introduce them to college life and the community. It’s demanding—and a lot of fun! Students remember the program, the weekend activities, and the friendships for a lifetime.

Lasting Benefits
In addition to the financial benefits, you should consider the less tangible benefits of the program. You will become familiar with the SCSU campus and the St. Cloud community and form close friendships with your co-participants. You will meet several SCSU faculty and staff people who will help you throughout your college career and you will learn about many aspects of college life such as financial aid, career services, student organizations, the mentoring program and how to use the library.

If you are interested or have any questions please contact Jim Knutson-Kolodzne at (320) 308-5447 or jkolodzne@stcloudstate.edu

Rebekah, Nikki, and AmyFeatherEngage Project

The St. Cloud State University Engage Project (formerly known as the Hospitality Project) has proven to be an effective method for both recruitment and retention of American Indian undergraduate university students. Through the cooperative efforts of the SCSU American Indian Center and Admissions office, a network of university administrators, faculty, staff, and student advisors and mentors has been organized to work with Native American junior high, high school, junior college and tribal college student advisors and their students. The goal of this cooperation is the recruitment of potential American Indian university students through group campus visits for prospective American Indian students. The visits are designed to familiarize them with the network services that have been organized to assist with the challenges they face in all aspects of the their academic careers at St. Cloud State University. Through the creation and utilization of various university programs, students are offered support in all aspects of their educational experience from specialized admission requirements and financial aid to academic tutoring and social functions. Our most recent endeavor is the creation of an education cohort to offer students stronger academic and social support systems through their college career.

Contact Sharon Fineday at (320) 308-4706 for information concerning the project. She will be able to schedule your visit or answer any questions you may have about your visit. You may also email us at aic@stcloudstate.edu.
