Academic Advising at SCSU
Advisor Assignments
New students are assigned an advisor early each semester based on their intended and/or declared major. The Advising Center works with all new students regardless of intended major prior to the first official university assignment of an advisor.
- Intended Major
- Assigned to a departmental advisor or advising center
- Undecided students
- Assigned to an advisor in the Advising Center
- Declared Major (applied and accepted)
- Assigned to a departmental advisor
Who is my advisor?
Students can change their intended major by filling out a form in the Advising Center (CH 210) or Records and Registration (AS 118).
Faculty members who would like to serve as a particular student’s advisor can contact the Advising Center by email to request as much.
Access Codes
All students without a declared major are required to meet with their assigned advisor if they want to receive an access code. Some departments also require access codes for students with a declared major. Ask your advisor.
The access code makes it possible to sign up for classes on the day one’s registration window opens. Students who do not meet with an advisor must wait until open registration to register for classes.
