Work Group Charge

The Sciences Strategy work group is charged with drafting a recommendation report regarding the future of sciences at St. Cloud State University, with a specific focus on:

  • Health Sciences
  • STEM programs

The recommendation report should include the following information:

  1. Research question(s) and data used as a basis for recommendations
  2. Situational analysis for SCSU
  3. State, Regional and National trends
  4. Best practices from peers and others
  5. Opportunities for interdisciplinary work
  6. Key business processes for redesign
  7. Opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency through technology or process improvement
  8. Opportunities to engage with or impact St. Cloud and Central Minnesota
  9. Facilities implications
  10. Technology implications
  11. Fundraising or grant opportunities
  12. Curricular or other opportunities
  13. Impact on enrollment
  14. Opportunities to enhance campus/community diversity
  15. Identify items that require additional or more detailed planning efforts

The work group is responsible for generating an open dialogue with SCSU’s internal and external community and will seek out key individuals and committees that may have information relevant to their charge. It is expected that the work groups will maintain a transparent process and stakeholder input will be reflected in the final recommendation report. Work group meetings should be open to the campus community and announced in advance. Work groups should provide updates on the progress of the work groups regularly through the Academic Action Planning web site and blog and should provide at least one process report by February 18, 2008. The recommendation report needs to be submitted by March 14, 2008 and will be used to inform SCSU’s Academic Action Plan and other institutional planning efforts.
