Work Group Charge
The On-line, Distance & Off-site Programming work group is charged with drafting a recommendation report for the development of a comprehensive plan for hybrid, web-based, web-enhanced, distance, and off-site academic programming at St. Cloud State University. The work group should focus specifically on those options that allow for the cost-effective expansion of academic programs to markets currently not served or underserved by the University. The work group should address specifically:
- Institutional on-line strategy
- Off-site program strategy
- Expansion of high school, community and technical college partnerships
- Role of Continuing Studies in curriculum
- Pedagogy for on-line teaching
- Instructional workload
The recommendation report should include the following information, as appropriate:
- Research question(s) and data used as a basis for recommendations
- Situational analysis for SCSU
- State, Regional and National trends
- Best practices from peers and others
- Opportunities for interdisciplinary work
- Key business processes for redesign
- Opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency through technology or process improvement
- Opportunities to engage with or impact St. Cloud and Central Minnesota
- Facilities implications
- Technology implications
- Fundraising or grant opportunities
- Curricular or other opportunities
- Impact on enrollment
- Opportunities to enhance campus/community diversity
- Identify items that require additional or more detailed planning efforts
The On-line, Distance and Off-site work group should work closely with the P-16 Strategy work group and integrate recommendations whenever possible. The work group is responsible for generating an open dialogue with SCSU’s internal and external community and will seek out key individuals and committees that may have information relevant to their charge. It is expected that the work groups will maintain a transparent process and stakeholder input will be reflected in the final recommendation report. Work group meetings should be open to the campus community and announced in advance. Work groups should provide updates on the progress of the work groups regularly through the Academic Action Planning web site and blog and should provide at least one process report by February 18, 2008. The recommendation report needs to be submitted by March 14, 2008 and will be used to inform SCSU’s Academic Action Plan and other institutional planning efforts.
