Frequently Asked Questions

When do students need to take COLL 150 and COLL 110?

Students should take these two courses during their first semester at college. Students need to keep in mind that they only have one year to successfully complete the courses with a C- or better. Taking the courses in the first semester allows students the chance to retake a course if there is a situation that requires them to do so. The courses you take with ACE will appear on your college transcript, because they have earned you four SCSU elective credits.

Will being a part of the ACE program prevent me from current or future involvement in SCSU activities and programs?

ACE students are full members of the SCSU campus community and have the opportunity for participation in all SCSU activities, services, and programs. For example, students can compete in and attend varsity sporting events, take any SCSU course, and join SCSU clubs/student organizations.

How many students are in the ACE program?

The ACE program has a limited number of seats available for new students transitioning into the University. Students who complete their admission steps will be admitted into ACE and SCSU on a space available basis.

Will other students know that I am a part of the ACE program?

No. Student information is kept confidential.

Will there only be ACE students in my courses?

COLL 150 courses are designed for ACE students. Your general education courses will be with all SCSU students. Some sections of selected courses have space reserved for ACE students.

How many times do my two credit COLL 150 and COLL 110 courses meet per week?

You will be meet for each course twice a week for a 50 minute class period.

How can I apply to be a ACE student?

Students cannot directly apply to ACE. The Admissions Office identifies students to be a part of the program, and then the First Year & Transition Programs staff makes the final admission decision for all ACE students. Students who are not admitted into SCSU through the ACE program will be recommended for admission to our Community College Connection Program at St Cloud Technical & Community College.
