Larry Sundby to Receive the North Central Conference Honor Award
St. Cloud State tennis coach Larry Sundby will receive the North Central Conference Honor Award on Monday at the Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls, S.D. Former NCC commissioner Mike Marcil and former Minnesota State-Mankato football coach Dan Runkle also will receive the honor, which is given in appreciation for their efforts to height the integrity of the conference. The award is voted on by the institutional representatives of the member institutions.
Sundby has spent 19 years with the St. Cloud State tennis programs. This spring, he was a volunteer assistant for both the men's and women's teams. He spent 18 seasons as St. Cloud State's head women's tennis coach, leading the Huskies to a 311-129 record and NCC titles in 1988, 1990 and 1991.
He also led the Huskies to NCAA Division II tournament bids in 1995, 2003, 2004 and 2005 and was voted NCC coach of the year in 1988 and 1991. As a high school and college tennis coach, he has a career record of 442-172.
