As a student of Creative Writing, you will have the chance to hone your craft in several genres: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, playwriting and screenwriting. You will also become a skilled reader and critic as you learn how your own work fits into its broader literary, cultural and historical contexts. Collaborating with your classmates to produce publications like The Upper Mississippi Harvest and Kaleidoscope offers valuable experience in editing and publishing. For students interested in dramatic writing, you will have the opportunity to participate in public readings of student works and collaborations with student filmmakers in the theatre and film studies department.
