Your StarID will contain 2 letters, 4 numbers, and 2 more letters (e.g. “ab1234cd” or “qm8762bg”).
Many of these features are accessible off campus through the Information Technology Services site, putting St. Cloud State’s technology at your fingertips anytime, anywhere.

Students, faculty and staff can access their St. Cloud State email once they activate their Star ID.

Maximum message size is 150MB which includes the message and any attachments. There is no individual attachment size restriction. However, some e-mail providers might not accept attachments depending on their size.
Also, be aware that some file types are blocked by St. Cloud State for security reasons.

Students, faculty and staff receive personal file and web space when they activate their StarID.
File space allows you to store files on St. Cloud State's network and use your StarID to login and access them from both on and off campus.
Web space gives you the ability to publish a personal web site on St. Cloud State's network and is located in a folder directly under your file space called "webspace". Please note, emeriti accounts do not include this web site service.
Your personal web site URL will be in one of two formats, dependent upon when your account was created:
Windows Desktop
Drive "X" is mapped to File Space, so it should automatically appear on the desktop and is accessible when you login on office or lab computers.
Macintosh
The File Space icon is placed right on your desktop, like your hard drive.
Use the web-based login to connect to file/web space.
SFTP clients such as CoreFTP (Windows) and Fugu (Macintosh) can also be used to connect to web space. SFTP site setup information:

A StarID remains active at St. Cloud State as long as a student is continuously enrolled in courses at St. Cloud State. For students who have graduated from St. Cloud State or are no longer enrolled in courses, the following will take place:
When the St. Cloud State Office of Records and Registration (AS 118) receives notice from a student that he/she is called to active duty, the student’s account will be flagged, indicating that he/she is on active duty for a specified amount of time. The account will remain active for that period of time.
Students requesting an extension of their technology and/or online library resources past the standard expiration timeframe will need to have their instructor or faculty advisor fill out the Request for Extension Form. Login to Office365 using your starID@minnstate.edu login ID is required. Requests must be for clearly academic purposes.

Students who need an extension of technology services and/or online library resources to complete a thesis, paper or culminating project must enroll in a graduate course titled Registration Continuation, 691 for masters students and 891 for doctoral students. In addition to being able to log in to view and post items, you will also have the option to subscribe to receive “Alerts” in your e-mail Inbox about the items in which you are interested.

Supplemental Account Maintenance
Employees/advisors use the maintenance tool (only available on campus*) to:

Users must be connected through Direct Access (Windows) or VPN (Mac) to use this application from off campus.
Departments, centers, programs and student organizations can request a supplemental account for access to file/web space, D2L Brightspace, wireless network, library proxy, MNPALS and more.
Shared mailboxes are now used for email associated with supplemental accounts. (See Shared mailboxes below.)
Student organization accounts need to be requested and managed by their faculty/staff advisor. Faculty/staff are responsible for activity that occurs under the supplemental accounts assigned to them.
Supplemental accounts follow Minnesota State guidelines for secure passwords.
Group owners use the group management tool to:
A shared mailbox is a mailbox that single or multiple users can use to read and send emails messages for a supplemental account.
Shared mailboxes can also be used to provide a common calendar, allowing multiple users to schedule and view items.
Shared mailboxes do not have a password associated with them and access is granted by the group owner through the Group Management Tool.
Once access has been given, allow up to 24 hours for the shared mailbox will show up in Outlook as another folder.
