Kurt Helgeson has been named the associate dean of the College of Science and Engineering.  Helgeson has served as the interim associate dean since April 2008.   

JiangLi Ling took top honors in the poster portion of the 2009 Student Research Colloquium held on campus in the spring, while Amit K. Pradhananga took the prize for best paper presentation.  In all, the College of Science and Engineering had 11 students earn honors.  Over 400 students on campus took part in the 2009 Student Research Colloquium.

Bruce Jacobson and the school's mobile lab appeared in the Technology section of the June 9, 2009, printing of USA Today.  The article was written by David Unze of the St. Cloud Times, who also writes for USA Today. 

Professor Rebecca Krystyniak from the chemistry department was one of 11 Minnesota State College and university system faculty to be awarded a grant to advance faculty-led teaching and learning initiatives in science, technology, engineering and mathematics courses, known also as STEM courses.

Despite an engine failure halfway through the endurance race, the Formula-racing style car designed and driven by engineering students finished 46^th in the SAE College Design Series competition in Brooklyn, Mich., giving the students their highest finish at the event.
